After first playing Apples to Apples at a friend’s house in 2000, artist Elbe Spurling went home and created an adult-themed version, adding her own distinctively lewd, silly drawings to hundreds of Response cards. The later addition of Modifier cards added a new twist, exponentially increasing the game’s opportunities for creativity and fun.

The game was a favorite in her friend circles, but Spurling made no attempt to market the game to the public, as she was too busy illustrating the entire Bible in LEGO. Some 8 years later, a game called Cards Against Humanity was released and became a worldwide sensation. Dust 2 Dust seemed destined to a remain an obscurity.

But then the great quarantine of 2020 inspired Spurling and friends to make a version of the game playable online at PlayingCards.io. Now, finally, the world can join in on the fun.
