STILL THE BEST

How To Play

Each player will need a starting hand:

Each round, one player is designated the judge who reads aloud the prompt card. Everyone else plays one or two cards from their hand that they hope the judge will choose as the best response.

One response at a time, the judge clicks on the cards to turn them over and reads the titles of the cards aloud, from left to right. (Pro tip: when revealing overlapping cards, remember the handy mnemonic “click green before blue, cuz that’s what you do”. This will ensure the blue card ends up on top [as God and nature intended]).  After great consideration, the judge announces their favorite. Then follow these steps to end the round:

Some yellow Prompt cards say “Play Two” at the top. You are required by law to have twice the fun on these rounds.

Remember to play a card slightly to the left if you want it to be read first, slightly to the right if you want it read second. Note: On a Play Two round, after you play your first 1 or 2 card Response, you may  refresh your hand back to 7 green and 7 blue cards before you play your second Response of 1 or 2 cards. Whether you choose to do such an “early refresh” or not, be sure to refresh your hand back to 7 green and 7 blue cards at the end of the round. Once all the two-part Responses are in…

HOW IT ALL ENDS:
When to end the game is arbitrary and totally up to your group. Play to 7 points. Play until a deck runs out. Play until the heat death of the universe. Your call.

OTHER THINGS:

  • The designations ‘Response cards’ and ‘Modifier cards’ don’t need to be taken too strictly. You may use a blue card to modify a green card, or a blue card to modify a blue card, or a green card to modify a green card. Whatever you think will give you the best chance at winning the round.
  • Decks can be shuffled. There’s a tab on the side of each deck showing the number of cards in the stack. Click that and then choose ‘shuffle’.
  • To change the names on the scoreboard, see Setting Up a Game.
